Hello. It's pepenee. Today, I would like to write about my visit to USJ.
①彼女の職場でユニバのチケットが抽選で当たる。
①Win tickets to USJ at her workplace.
彼女がドンキで働いていて、一等はユニバの抽選くじを引いて見事当たりました。
She worked at donki and won the first prize by drawing a lottery ticket for USJ.
pepeneeも大喜び！こんなことが本当に起きるのだと、びっくりしました。
Pepenee is overjoyed! I was amazed that this really happened.
チケットの引き渡し場所は、ユニバから一番近いホテル、ザ・パークフロントホテルアットユニバーサルスタジオジャパン。
The ticket delivery place is The Park Front at Universal Studios Japan, the hotel closest to USJ.
どうせ行くなら、いいホテルに泊まっちゃおう！ということで、このザ・パークフロントホテルアットユニバーサルスタジオジャパンに予約する事に。
If you go anyway, let's stay at a good hotel! So, I decided to make a reservation at The Park Front Hotel at Universal Studio Japan.
一泊66,000円！彼女と、小学二年生の男の子、そして僕。
66,000yen per night! My girlfriend, a second grade boy,and me.
ええい、こんな機会めったにない！お金にいとめはつけん！
Well, such an opportunity is rare! Don't be afraid of money!
予約して、早速当日、ユニバへ。
Make a reservation and immediately go to USJ on the day.
②とにかく、職員さんが話しかけまくってくる！
②Anyway, the staff keeps talking to me!
混雑する入口ゲートを通り、ユニバの世界へ！すると、そこには映画の世界がカオスに乱立する場所だった。
Enter the world of USJ through the crowded entrance gate! Then, there was a place where the world of movies was full of chaos.
マリオのグッズが売られている売店があると思ったら、あっという間にジョーズの世界に。また、ハリーポッターのお城を通ったと思ったら、ジュラシックパーク、ウォーターワールドが顔を出す。
If you think that there is a shop selling Mario goods, you will be in the world of Jaws in no time. Also ,if you think you've passed Harry Potter's castle, Jurassic Park and Water World will appear.
そして、とにかくどのブースの職員さんも、話しかけてくる、話しかけてくる！
And anyway, the staff at every booth will talk to me, talk to me!
「どちらからこられたんですか？」「ジュラシックパークは楽しかったですか？」
「私も英語が話せません。でも、大事なのは気持ちですね」
"Where did you come from?" "Did you enjoy Jurassic Park?"
"I can't speak English either. But it's the feeling that matters."
友達か？と思うくらい、フレンドリーに話しかけてくる。
Are you friends? As much as I thought, he talked to me in a friendly way.
でも、職員さんの話を聞いているうちに、毎日勉強している英語で外国人さんと一言でもいいから話してみたいと思った。
However, while listening to the staff, I thought that I would like to speak with foreigners in English, which I study every day.
そして、ウォーターワールドでは、最前列でびしょぬれになり、ジュラシックパークでは絶叫し、ハリーポッターでは有名なバタービールで舌鼓を打って時は流れた。
Then we got drenched in the front row at Waterworld, screamed at Jurassic Park, and drank the famous Butterbeer at Harry Potter.
お土産を買って、ホテルに帰ったのは、夕方7時くらいだったと思う。
I think it was around 7:00 in the evening when I bought souvenirs and returned to the hotel.
③とにかく、外国人さんと話したい！
③Anyway, I want to talk with foreigners!
ホテルに入って、お風呂に入り、20階からの美しい眺めにうっとりしていた。でも、心の中では、明日こそ、外国人さんと話してみたい、その思いがふつふつと湧いてきていた。
I entered the hotel, took a bath, and was mesmerized by the beautiful view from the 20th floor. However, in my heart, I wanted to talk to a foreigner tomorrow, and the thought was welling up.
二日目、今日は、ユニバの近くにある海遊館に遊びに行く日だ。
On the second day, today is the day we go to the Kaiyukan near USJ.
ホテルのドアを閉め、歩き出したその瞬間、向かいから、ホテルの従業員さんが歩いてきた。僕はハッとした。浅黒い肌、外国人従業員さんだ！
At the moment I closed the hotel door and started walking, a hotel employee walked in from the opposite direction. I was happy A dark-skinned, foreign employee!
pepenee「ハロー！」

外国人従業員さん「hello!」
foreign employee"hello"
pepenee「ウェアユーフロム？」
pepenee"Where you from?"
外国人従業員さん「ネパール」
foreign employee"Nepal"
一瞬たじろいだ僕に、隣にいた彼女が、「ネパールだって、ネパール！」と間を取り持ってくれた。
I hesitated for a moment, but my girlfriend who was next to me said, "Nepal, Nepal!"
外国人従業員さん 「Can you speak English?」
foreign employee"Can you speak English?"
pepenee「アイ キャン スピーク イングリッシュ ア リトル」
pepenee"I can speak English a little."
すると、ネパールの方は、日本語で、「アリガトウ！」と返してくれたのだ！
Then, the Nepalese replied "thank you" in Japanese!
嬉しかった！が、もうちょっと気持ちを通わしたい！また別の外国人の方にも話しかけよう。そう思った。
Was delighted! But I want to communicate a little more! Let's talk to another foreigner. I thought so.
海遊館では、ジンベイザメが有名だ。一通り、世界のお魚を見て回って、聴診器が円形のライトとくっついていて、心音のリズムとライトが同調する部屋に来た。外国人観光客が聴診器を触っているが、すこし戸惑っている。
Kaiyukan is famous for whale sharks. After going through all the fish in the world, I came to a room where a stethoscope was attached to a circular light and the rhythm of the heartbeat was synchronized with the light.
A foreign tourist is touching a stethoscope, but she is a little puzzuled.
「プット ユア ハート」思わず、口を出た。
"Put your heart" I said without thinking.
外国人観光客の彼女は、遠慮して、その場から離れようとする。
She, a foreign tourist, refrains and tries to leave the place.
驚くように自然に、英語が口を出る。僕はもう一度聴診器を試してもらおうと、「ウッドユー、プリーズ？」と話していた。
English comes out surprisingly naturally. I asked her to try the stethoscope again and said "would you please?"
彼女は、ためらいがちに両手を振る。
She hesitantly waves her hands.
その姿を見て、僕は大丈夫だよ、わかったよ、の意味を込めて、「オーケー」と答えた。
Seeing that figure, I answered "okay" with the meaning of "I'm fine, I understand."
これが、外国人さんと、本当の意味でコミュニケーションが出来た瞬間だと思った。
I thought that this was the moment when I was able to communicate with a foreigner in a true sense.
因みに、ブットユアハートは、心臓に置いて、ではなく心を込めてという意味だったし、ウッドユープリーズはいかがですか？、ではなくお願いしますという意味だったのでニュアンスは間違っていたのだろう。
By the way, "put your heart"doesn't mean to put it in your heart, but to put your heart into it,so how about "would you please?"Instead, it meant please, so the nuance was probably wrong.
でも、この経験は、ものすごい自信となった。僕は、日本人だけじゃなく、世界中の人々とコミュニケーションが取れるのだ。なんだか、日本人が、地球人になった感覚だった。
But this experience gave me a lot of confidence. I can communicate not only with Japanese people but also with people from all over the world. Somehow, it felt like the Japanese had become earthlings.
